The next time you talk to a crazy person who doesn't know they're crazy, this is what's going on. Interestingly, it can happen for all sorts of disabilities, even blindness and paralysis. Even more bizarrely, the condition can be temporarily relieved by squirting cold water into the ear with a syringe. (Can you imagine that? Somebody squirts water in your ear and suddenly you realize you've been blind the whole time?)
